When I got started in roofing, I realized how much insurance companies tried to get away with by nickel and diming each claim.
I did the math and estimated that ONE carrier in a single market that processes 100,000 claims per year would save $100 MILLION that year if they just shaved $1,000 off each claim with their usual tricks (“that’s included in the waste” / “a cost of doing business” / “didn’t suffer direct physical loss” / “it’s our internal policy not to pay for that” / etc.)
I knew there had to be a better way to increase the profit margins on my claims, overcome senseless adjuster rebuttals, and get paid for the work we actually DO as contractors, but I also knew most roofers’ biggest handicap was that **they didn’t know what they didn’t know!**
So I started experimenting: with Xactimate, hunting for line items, learning verbiage, what to say, what NOT to say, what documentation to include, and how to handle adjuster objections in an “if this, then that” methodology.
To say it worked is an understatement. Since 2014 I’ve been sharing my techniques with contractors nationwide who are eager and willing to learn, and the proof is clearly in their results.
